Who is it for?

Skills practiced in Social Group help participants in:

  • School and classroom settings
  • Work and vocational environments
  • Community activities
  • Friendships and family relationships

(Transition-aged youth and young adults; typically up to age 24, which aligns with Oklahoma transition services.)

Social Group is:

  • Open to individuals with disabilities, including autism
  • Open to peers without a diagnosis that want to learn and connect
  • Designed to support a wide range of abilities and needs

While many participants have a diagnosis, a diagnosis is not required to participate.

When We Meet

Social Group meets on the second Thursday of each month, year-round.

What a Social Group Session Looks Like

Social Group sessions typically include:

  • Small-group activities

Sessions are designed to be supportive, respectful, and encouraging.

Social Group intentionally welcomes both individuals with disabilities and neurotypical peers.

The Pervasive Parenting Center’s Social Group provides a structured, supportive environment where teens and young adults can practice social, communication, and life skills while building meaningful peer connections.

Social Group focuses on real-world skills that help participants succeed at school, at work, and in the community — all in a welcoming group setting.
