IEP/504 Advocacy

IEP/504 Advocacy Pervasive Parenting Center can offer assistance to parents and guardians with children on IEPs and 504s. We can help you navigate the special education sys-tem with training, advice, and advocacy. We will travel to the meeting to assist with receiving the best education possible. Our advocates are trained in special-education law.

  • Autism Basics: We can offer training in what to look for, and offer screening, as well as advise where to go for evaluation, therapy, and other assistance. 
  • Behavior Training: We can offer training to parents, educators, and professionals in basic behavior interventions with individuals with autism and other disabilities using positive interventions. 
  • "Respect Campaign": We work with schools, clubs, businesses, organizations, and communities to help eliminate the use of the r-word, and show respect for those with disabilities. 
  • Disability Acceptance/People First Language: We work with schools, clubs, businesses, organizations, and communities to help eliminate the use of derogatory words related to disabilities.
  • Inclusion in the Classroom: We work with schools on working with teachers and students to help them adapt to the main-stream classroom.
  • Autism in the Classroom: We work with schools on working with teachers and students to help understand autism in the main-stream classroom.
  • CLEET Training on Engaging People With Autism: We work with the University of Oklahoma Police Department to offer law enforcement, first responders, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel the training to help respond to calls related to people with autism and other disabilities.
  • IEP/504 Training: We work with parents, schools, and advocates to help understand the laws behind Individualized Education Programs and 504s in school.
  • Parent Rights under IDEA: We work with parents, schools, and advocates to help understand the laws behind the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
  • Self Advocacy: We work with individuals with disabilities to help them better advocate for themselves in school and in the community. 
  • Communication/Care Notebook: We work with families to establish a Communication and Care Notebook to better advocate for your loved-one with a disability.
